What is Neurofeedback?

Train your brain for better focus, sleep, and stress management—no medication required

The Short Answer

Neurofeedback is EEG biofeedback—a way to train your brain by measuring its electrical activity and providing real-time feedback. When your brain shifts toward healthier patterns, you hear a tone or see a game respond. Over 20-60 sessions, your brain learns to self-regulate. It's like physical therapy for your brain.

How Does Neurofeedback Work?

Your brain produces electrical patterns called brainwaves. These patterns influence how you feel, focus, sleep, and handle stress. Some patterns are helpful; others can hold you back.

During neurofeedback, sensors on your scalp measure these patterns in real-time. When your brain produces the desired pattern—say, a calmer, more focused state—the software rewards it with a sound or visual cue. Your brain notices this feedback and gradually learns to produce more of the helpful patterns.

This is called operant conditioning—the same learning process that trains any skill. The difference is that neurofeedback trains involuntary brain activity, creating changes at a deeper level than conscious effort alone.

✓ Neurofeedback is Safe

  • Non-invasive: Electrodes only measure—nothing enters your brain
  • No medication: Works through natural learning processes
  • Long-lasting: Changes persist for years after training
  • 50+ years of research: Used clinically since the 1960s

What Can Neurofeedback Help With?

🎯 Focus & Attention

ADHD, concentration difficulties, brain fog

Neurofeedback in the UK

Peak Brain UK offers neurofeedback training in London and remotely across the United Kingdom. Our programs are led by Dr. Andrew Hill, PhD, a cognitive neuroscientist with over 15 years of experience in brain training.

Every program starts with a QEEG brain map—a recording of your brain's electrical activity that guides your personalised training protocol. We don't use one-size-fits-all approaches.
